Instead of chasing many things, he fixed his heart on one thing. His deepest desire was not a throne, a victory, or a possession. It was to dwell in the presence of the LORD and behold His beauty. This is the true end of our search. Everything our hearts are chasing is ultimately a shadow of what only God Himself can give. Peace, joy, security, and identity are not found in a place, a title, or an achievement, but in a Person. When the LORD is truly our Shepherd, our hearts can finally rest.

Remember our illustration from the sermon this Sunday... Imagine searching frantically for your glasses while they are sitting on top of your head. Many people live this way spiritually and emotionally. They look everywhere for fulfillment while the Shepherd stands right beside them, inviting them to trust Him. In green pastures and in dark valleys, in abundance and in lack, He is there. When we finally say with honesty, “The LORD is my shepherd,” our restless search finds its home. Today, ask God to reorder your desires so that He becomes your “one thing.” As you seek Him above all else, you will discover that He is more than enough.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are the end and fulfillment of my search. I confess that I have often chased many things instead of seeking You as my one thing. Please realign my heart so that my greatest desire is to dwell in Your presence and to know You more. Open my eyes to see Your beauty and to recognize that in You I have everything I truly need. Lead me into a life where my satisfaction rests in You rather than in what I gain or lose. I choose today to say, “The LORD is my shepherd.” In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

David knew seasons of fear, loss, betrayal, and even the consequences of his own sin. Yet he could say he was not in want because his contentment did not depend on his circumstances. In the same way, Paul testifies that he learned to be content in every situation, whether in abundance or in need. Contentment is not the absence of longing. It is the settled confidence that God is sufficient for every need.

The world tells us contentment is found by getting more. Scripture teaches that contentment is found by trusting God more. Many of us live exhausted because we are always reaching for the next thing we believe will finally make us happy. God invites us to a different way of living, where our peace does not rise and fall with our bank account, our health, our achievements, or our relationships. Today, ask yourself honestly, “What do I believe I must have to be happy” Bring that thing to God and confess that He alone is enough. As you trust the Shepherd, you will find a deeper rest, knowing that He holds everything you truly need.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I admit that I often tie my happiness to my circumstances. Teach me, as You taught Paul and David, to find my contentment in You alone. Show me the places in my heart where I have believed the lie that one more thing will finally satisfy me. Give me grace to surrender those false hopes and to rest in Your perfect sufficiency. Help me to trust that You know what I need and that You will provide in Your time and in Your way. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

He does not only call Him the shepherd. He says the LORD is my shepherd. This is the language of a personal relationship, not just religious knowledge. Many people know facts about God, can quote verses, and can explain doctrines, but they do not truly know Him as their own Shepherd. A shepherd is near to the sheep, knows them by name, guides their steps, protects them from danger, and searches for them when they wander. That is the kind of relationship God desires with you.

When fear rises, when confusion clouds your thinking, and when pain enters your life, the question becomes very personal. Where do you immediately run? Whose voice do you trust first? The good news is that Jesus, the Shepherd of Psalm 23, is the suffering Savior of Psalm 22. He has walked through the valley of pain, rejection, and death. He knows your sorrow and has gone before you. Today, entrust your wandering heart to the care of the One who not only died for you but also walks with you. Make it personal and say in faith, “The LORD is my shepherd.”

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being my good Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep. I do not want to only know about You from a distance. I want to know You personally and walk with You daily. Draw my heart closer to You and help me to hear and follow Your voice above every other voice. When I am afraid or uncertain, remind me that You are near, that You care, and that You are leading me. I surrender my life to Your guidance and protection. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

This name speaks of the eternal, self existent God who revealed Himself to Moses as “I AM THAT I AM.” God is not dependent on anyone or anything. His faithfulness, power, and wisdom do not change with circumstances. This means that our confidence in God does not rest on what we see at the moment but on who He has always been and always will be. God’s character is the anchor for our faith.

When suffering, confusion, or disappointment enter our lives, we are tempted to judge God based on what we feel in that single moment. David invites us instead to remember who God is before we question what God is doing. The more clearly we see the character of God, the more securely we can trust His plan, even when we cannot trace His hand. Today, remind your heart that the same LORD who saved, provided, and guided in the past is the LORD who is with you right now. He has not changed, even if everything around you has.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing the Father as the eternal and unchanging “I AM.” Help me to trust who You are more than what I see. Let my confidence rest not in my understanding of my circumstances but in the truth of who You are. Strengthen my faith to lean on Your unchanging nature in every season of life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Yet Jesus clearly teaches that life is not measured by how much we own or how much we achieve. When we build our identity and worth around possessions, success, or recognition, we are setting ourselves up for constant disappointment. The heart that seeks satisfaction in temporary things will always need one more thing to feel secure or important.

God did not design our souls to be filled by things that fade, break, or get replaced. He designed us to find rest and contentment in Him. A restless life is often a sign that we are asking created things to do what only the Creator can do. Today, consider where your heart is looking for fulfillment. Are you trusting something temporary to give you what only God can provide? Aligned hearts come when we surrender our constant craving for more and learn to say to God, “You are enough for me.”

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I confess that I have often looked for satisfaction in possessions, achievements, and the approval of others. Forgive me for trusting temporary things more than I trust You. Teach my heart to rest in what You say is true and not in what the world chases. Help me to value Your presence above every earthly gain and to find my identity in You alone. I ask for the grace to release my covetous desires and to learn the freedom of contentment in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

That includes every believer today. His prayer was not only for our protection and holiness but also for our unity. This unity is not mere agreement on every preference but a shared life in Christ that reflects the oneness between the Father and the Son. When believers walk in love, forgiveness, and humility toward one another the watching world sees a living testimony that Jesus truly is the Son of God.

To fulfill this prayer we must guard against division rooted in pride, selfishness, or secondary issues. The enemy loves to distract the church from its mission by turning us against each other. Instead we are called to pursue reconciliation, serve one another, and place the Gospel above our personal preferences. Ask yourself Is there a believer I need to forgive or a relationship I need to repair. As we live in unity shaped by truth and love the world gains a clearer picture of Christ and His saving power through our shared testimonies.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus thank You that You prayed for me long before I was born. You desire that I live in unity with my brothers and sisters so that the world may believe You were sent by the Father. Forgive me for attitudes and actions that create division. Help me to walk in humility to seek reconciliation and to love Your people well. Use our unity to display Your glory and draw many to salvation. I ask this in Your name Jesus Amen.

To be insulated is to be surrounded and strengthened by the truth of God so that we can live in a sinful world without being shaped by it. Daniel in Babylon and Joseph in Egypt are powerful examples. They served in pagan cultures with excellence yet refused to defile themselves. Their surroundings were corrupt, but their hearts were guarded by firm convictions grounded in God’s word.

God’s word is our primary insulation. As Scripture renews our minds, it changes what we love, what we fear, and what we pursue. This is not a quick experience but a daily decision. We choose to let the Bible define reality rather than the news, social media, or popular opinion. In practice, this means regular time in the Word, honest obedience to what it reveals, and reliance on the Spirit to apply it. When the truth lives in us, we can walk into dark spaces confident that Christ in us is greater than the temptations around us.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that Your word is truth. Sanctify me through that truth today. Let Scripture shape my thoughts, my desires, and my decisions more than the voices of the world. As I read and obey Your word, insulate my heart so that I can enter difficult places without being pulled away from You. Make me steadfast like Daniel and Joseph, faithful in both small and great tests. I pray this in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

Lot, Samson, Solomon, and Demas all remind us that loving the world never ends well. They lived close to sin and eventually allowed sin to live in them. At first they only moved toward compromise but over time compromise moved into their hearts. Being around the things of God did not protect them when their deepest affection belonged to the world.

We face the same danger when we begin to think that we must look and live like the world in order to reach it. Instead of shining as lights we risk losing our distinctiveness. God calls us to engage culture without absorbing its values. This requires honest self examination. Where am I imitating the world’s priorities its entertainment its use of money its view of relationships. The call of Christ is to love the Father above all so that my choices reflect His holiness instead of my culture’s pressure. True influence flows from a life noticeably transformed by grace.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus I confess that my heart is often drawn to the things of this world. Like Jonah fleeing from Nineveh, they want distance from those they see as wicked. While the desire to remain pure is good, isolation forgets God’s purpose. The Gospel was never meant to be protected behind walls but proclaimed to people who desperately need mercy. Holiness that refuses to move toward sinners does not reflect the heart of Christ, who came to seek and to save that which was lost.

We are called to be sent ones, not sheltered ones. This does not mean joining in sin but entering broken spaces with compassion and truth. Ask yourself, have I allowed fear, pride, or prejudice to keep me from building relationships with unbelievers God has placed around me? Instead of buying into a spiritual bunker mentality, we can trust that the same Lord who sends us also keeps us. Faithful obedience means staying committed to God’s word while drawing near to those who are far from Him.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have hidden my faith or withdrawn from people out of fear. Deliver me from isolation that values my comfort more than the salvation of others. Give me Your heart for sinners and the courage to build bridges with those who do not know You. Instead, He prayed that they would be protected from evil while remaining in it. This reveals that our calling is not to escape the world but to live faithfully in it. We are meant to be present in workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and families that do not always share our values. Yet in those very places God desires to display His power to keep us holy.

This means that resistance to sin is not found in changing our location but in deepening our connection to the Lord. We are not defined by our surroundings but by our Savior. When we feel overwhelmed by darkness or pressure to compromise, we can remember that Jesus has already prayed for our protection. He did not only pray for the disciples who walked with Him during His earthly ministry. He prayed for “them also which shall believe on me through their word.” That means every believer who has come to faith through the message of the Gospel was already on the heart of Christ as He prayed to the Father. Before we ever called on Him, He was praying for us.

The focus of His prayer was that His people would be one in Him. This unity is not shallow agreement or outward in organization. It is a spiritual unity rooted in the life of the Father and the Son. Jesus prayed that His people would be brought into fellowship with God and with one another in such a way that the world would see the truth of who He is. When believers walk in love, humility, forgiveness, truth, and purpose, our unity becomes a testimony that Jesus was sent by the Father.

Today, remember that Jesus is not distant from your life. He prayed for you, He lives in you, and He desires to be glorified through you. If Jesus prayed for unity among His people, then we should be careful not to divide what He came to redeem. Ask the Lord to make your heart tender toward His people, faithful to His truth, and willing to love in a way that helps the world see Christ clearly.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that Jesus prayed for me. Thank You that before I ever knew Him, I was already on His heart. Help me to live in the unity that Jesus prayed for, not with pride, bitterness, or selfishness, but with love, humility, forgiveness, and truth. Make my life a faithful witness to the world that Jesus was sent by You and that Your love is real. Keep me close to Christ and help me walk as one with Your people for Your glory. In the name of Jesus, amen.

But, it means He willingly set Himself apart to accomplish the will of the Father. Jesus sanctified Himself for the cross of Calvary. He consecrated Himself to the suffering, sacrifice, and obedience necessary for our salvation.

The cross was not an accident or a sudden change in God’s plan. Jesus was sent into the world for this very purpose. He set His face toward Calvary because our salvation required a perfect sacrifice. For our sakes, He gave Himself fully to the Father’s will so that we might be forgiven, redeemed, and sanctified through the truth. His sanctification led Him to the cross, and our sanctification begins because of what He accomplished there.

Today, we should remember that our holiness is rooted in His sacrifice. We are not called to sanctification in order to earn His love, but because His love has already been displayed at Calvary. If Jesus set Himself apart for our salvation, then we should set ourselves apart for His glory. Our lives should be surrendered to the truth of His Word, shaped by His sacrifice, and sent into the world as witnesses of the One who gave Himself for us.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that Jesus sanctified Himself for my sake and willingly went to the cross of Calvary. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Thought:
Jesus prayed that His people would be sanctified through the truth of God’s Word. Sanctification is not simply self improvement, better habits, or moral discipline. It is the holy work of God by which He sets us apart from the world and makes us more like Christ. Since Jesus said, “thy word is truth,” we must understand that the sanctifying process is deeply connected to the time we spend with God in His Word.

This raises a personal question: Do I set aside specific time for the sanctification process? We often schedule what we believe is important. We make time for work, meals, appointments, responsibilities, and rest. Yet the soul also needs time before the Lord. If the Word of God is the truth by which we are sanctified, then we should not treat it as an occasional thought, but as a daily necessity. Time in the Word is not wasted time. It is the place where God corrects and shapes our lives for His purpose.

Jesus also said that His people are sent into the world. God does not sanctify us so we can hide from the world, but so we can represent Christ within it. A sanctified life is a sent life. Before we face the world, we need the truth of God working in us. Today, ask the Lord to help you set aside intentional time for His Word, not merely to gain information, but to be transformed by truth and prepared for the mission He has given you.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word, which is truth. Thank You for the sanctifying work You are doing in my life through Jesus Christ. Help me to set aside specific time to meet with You, hear Your truth, and allow Your Word to shape my heart. Separate me from the values of this world and make me more like Christ. Prepare me through Your truth so I can live faithfully in the world where You have sent me. In the name of Jesus, amen.

He said, “I have given them thy word,” and that Word separates the believer from the spirit, values, desires, and direction of the world. The Christian does not belong to this world in the same way Christ does not belong to this world. We live, serve, and witness here, but our identity and hope come from above.

Jesus did not pray for the Father to remove His disciples from the world. He prayed that the Father would keep them from evil. This means the Christian life is not a call to escape the world, but to remain faithful in it. God has not left us here by accident. He has placed us here with purpose, but He also knows the danger around us and the weakness within us. That is why we need the keeping power of God every day.

Today, remember that being different from the world is not something to be ashamed of. It is evidence that the Word of God is doing its work in you. The hatred of the world does not mean you have lost your place. It may mean you are living from your true place in Christ. Ask the Lord to keep your heart clean, your mind guarded, and your life anchored in His Word while you remain in this world for His glory.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me Your Word and for making me belong to You through Jesus Christ. He knew His disciples would remain in a troubled world, but He did not pray that they would merely survive it. He prayed that His joy would be fulfilled in them. This joy was not rooted in comfort, ease, or earthly success. It was the joy of perfect fellowship with the Father, complete obedience to the will of God, and holy confidence in the purpose of redemption.

Sanctification is the work of God by which He continues to make His people more like Christ. Sometimes we think of sanctification only in terms of what God removes from our lives, but Jesus shows us that holiness is not the enemy of joy. Holiness is where true joy grows. The more our hearts are separated from sin and surrendered to the Father, the more room there is for the joy of Christ to be fulfilled within us. Sin promises pleasure but leaves the soul empty. Christ calls us into holiness and fills the soul with joy that the world cannot give.

Today, do not see God’s work of correction, conviction, and cleansing as punishment. See it as love. Every time the Lord shapes your desires, redirects your steps, or calls you closer to Himself, He is not taking joy from you. He is leading you into deeper joy. The joy of Jesus is found as we walk trust, obey, and become more like Him.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the joy of Jesus that is not dependent on the circumstances around me but is fulfilled by Your presence within me. Continue Your sanctifying work in my heart. Remove what does not honor You, cleanse what is not like Christ, and teach me to find joy in becoming more like my Savior. Help me not to resist Your correction, but to receive it as love. Fill me with the joy of Christ as I walk in obedience and fellowship with You. In the name of Jesus, amen.

And he worshipped him.

Thought:
At the beginning of the story the man is a blind beggar. Everyone knows him only by his need. By the end of the story, he sees, believes, and worships Jesus as Lord. His physical healing was not the end. It led to something greater. It led to saving faith and true worship.

This is the pattern for every sinner who is saved by grace. We start helpless and blind. We cannot see Christ rightly and we cannot fix our own hearts. Jesus, the light of the world, comes to us through His word. He opens our eyes. We begin to see who He is and what He has done on the cross and in His resurrection.

There are still many things in life that we do not understand. We may not know why certain pains and losses have come. We may not be able to explain every detail of God’s plan. But like the healed man we can say one true thing. I was blind and now I see. That simple testimony is powerful. It gives glory to Christ, the One who cured us.

The right response to this grace is worship. We bow our hearts before Jesus. We trust Him as the Son of God. We treasure Him more than our own comfort or reputation. We speak openly about what He has done for us, even when others question or reject us.

The main question is not, Can you explain everything. The main question is, Have your eyes been opened by Jesus. And if they have, is your life now a life of worship.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that in Christ You have brought me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. I may not understand everything, but I know that once I was blind and now I see. Help me to live each day as a worshipper of Jesus. Give me courage to speak of what He has done in my life. Let my words and my actions show that He is Lord. I am only a beggar in the presence of a King, but I offer You all that I am. In Jesus name, Amen.

He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

Thought:
Jesus did not only talk about the man's condition. He moved toward him. He touched him at the very place of his brokenness. He made clay, put it on his eyes, and then gave a simple command. Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.

This was a strange method. Jesus could have healed with a word. Instead, He chose to use clay and water. But the power was not in the clay or the pool. The power was in the word of Jesus and in the person of Jesus.

The blind man had a choice. He could argue, or he could obey. He chose to trust the word of Christ. He went, he washed, and he came back seeing. A life that was always dark was suddenly full of light.

This shows us something important about saving faith. Faith is not just agreeing with ideas about Jesus. It is taking Him at His word. It is trusting Him enough to obey, even when we do not fully understand. Obedience does not earn the miracle. The miracle is the gift of Christ alone. But obedience is the path where we experience what He has promised.

In our spiritual blindness, Jesus comes to us through the Gospel. He touches our hearts and calls us to repent and to believe. When we respond in simple faith, He opens our eyes and brings us from darkness into light.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that Jesus comes near to broken people. Thank You that He not only speaks but also touches and heals. Please help me to trust Your word even when I do not understand everything. Give me a heart that obeys You quickly and simply. Thank You that salvation is Your work from start to finish. I look to Jesus alone to open my eyes. In Jesus name, Amen.

But the people around him could not see the Son. The neighbors and the Pharisees had eyes that worked, but their hearts were still in darkness. They examined the miracle, they argued about it, and they rejected Jesus who did it.

This shows us a deep truth. Physical sight is not the same as spiritual sight. A person can read the Bible, attend church, and know religious facts, and still be blind to who Jesus really is. The Pharisees had the Scriptures in their hands, but they did not see that those Scriptures pointed to Christ. They thought they understood everything. That made their blindness even more dangerous.

Spiritual blindness means we do not see God correctly, we do not see ourselves correctly, and we do not see sin correctly. We do not see eternity clearly. We do not see the beauty and worth of Jesus. On our own, more information will not fix this. We do not just need education. We need illumination. We need light.

Jesus said, I am the light of the world. He does not just give light. He is light. When He shines into a human heart, everything changes. We see that this world is passing, but His kingdom is forever.

If you feel confused, dark, or lost inside, do not just ask for answers. Ask for Jesus. When He comes, He brings the light you truly need.

Prayer:
Father, I confess that without Jesus I am spiritually blind. I often do not see sin the way You see it. I often do not see Jesus in His true glory. Please shine the light of Christ into my heart. Open my eyes to know You, to see my need, and to trust in Your Son. Let Your word be light to my path because Jesus, the light of the world, lives in me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Memories come back and old failures rise up like shadows in a dark room. We may know in our heads that God forgives, but our hearts still feel dirty and unworthy.

God’s forgiveness is beyond our recollection. The cleansing blood of Jesus reaches farther than our memory. God never loses knowledge, but in His mercy He chooses not to hold our forgiven sins against us. He does not forgive the way we often forgive. We say we forgive, but we hold on to the record in our hearts. God says He will remember our sins no more. That means He does not bring them up to condemn us. The debt has been paid. The record has been cleared.

Walking in the light means we will still see our sins more clearly. But the more clearly we see our sin, the more clearly we must look to the cross. The light and presence of God exposes our sin. The blood of Jesus cleanses our sin. When shame tries to pull us back into darkness, we can answer with the promise of God. If my sin has been washed in the blood of Jesus, then God will not use that sin to condemn me.

We may live with some consequences. We may carry lessons and scars. But we do not have to live under condemnation. God's Word says, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You that through Jesus my sins are forgiven and You remember them no more. When my mind brings back old sins that You have already cleansed, help me to trust Your Word instead of my feelings. Teach me to rest in what Christ has done for me. Let me walk in the light with joy, not hiding in the shadows of guilt and shame. Thank You for a forgiveness that goes beyond my memory. We are just not hiding anymore. We step into God’s holy presence and let His light show the truth about us.

If God only shined light on our sin, we would be crushed. But John tells us something wonderful. The same God whose light exposes our sin has also provided the way to cleanse our sin. The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

All sin means every kind of sin. The open sins and the secret sins. The sins we remember and the sins we have forgotten. The sins of our youth and the sins of our later years. There is no category of sin that is too dirty, too strong, or too old for the blood of Jesus to cleanse.
John uses a word that points to ongoing cleansing. As we keep walking in the light, we keep living under the cleansing power of Christ’s blood. Our hope is not that we never fail. Our hope is that the sacrifice of Jesus never fails. His blood is always enough. His cross is always powerful. His grace is always greater than our sin.

So we do not need to run from the light. We can step into it, confess our sin, and trust that the blood of Jesus reaches deeper than our guilt and goes farther than our shame.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin. Help me not to hide from Your light but to walk in it with honesty. When my sin is exposed, remind me that Jesus has already paid for it. Teach me to trust the power of His blood more than the power of my past. Let me live as a cleansed and forgiven person. In Jesus name, amen.

It is hard to imagine that the holy God who is light would want close fellowship with people who have sinned against Him. But that is exactly what He offers us through Jesus Christ.

Our sin pushed us away from God. Darkness cannot enjoy fellowship with light. But Jesus entered our darkness. He took our sin upon Himself on the cross and rose again from the dead. By His death and resurrection, He removed the barrier between us and God.

This means Christian fellowship starts vertically before it starts horizontally. First we are brought into fellowship with God the Father through His Son. Then we are brought into real fellowship with one another. Our unity with other believers comes from our shared life with God, not just from being in the same church or liking the same things.

This fellowship is beyond imagination because the God we offended has chosen to bring us close. He did not just tolerate us. He welcomed us and wrapped us in the righteousness of His Son. He calls us His children. He walks with us, listens to us, corrects us, and comforts us. The more we understand this, the less we will be satisfied with empty religion. We will desire to truly know Him and to walk with His people in the light.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You that through Jesus You invite me into real fellowship with You. It amazes me that You would want to share life with someone like me. Help me to value this fellowship more than anything else. Teach me to enjoy Your presence and to walk in loving fellowship with other believers. Draw my heart near to You today. In Jesus name, amen.

God invites us to share life with Him. This is more than going to church, more than trying to be good, and more than saying we believe in God. It is a real relationship where God is close and we learn to live with Him and for Him.

John teaches that we cannot truly walk with God and still choose to live in darkness. Darkness means hiding sin, loving sin, and refusing God’s truth. It means saying with our mouth that we belong to God while our life goes the other way. This is a lie.

This does not mean Christians never sin. John says that believers still need to confess their sins and be forgiven. The issue is direction and desire. When God brings us into fellowship with Himself, He also changes our hearts. We begin to desire His light. We are no longer comfortable remaining in darkness. His presence starts to change what we love, how we think, and how we live.

To walk in the light is to be honest with God. It is to stop pretending and stop hiding. It means to bring our thoughts, choices, and desires out into His presence and say, Lord, here is my real heart. Change what needs to be changed. It is a daily choice to move toward Him and away from sin.

Prayer:
Father God, I want real fellowship with You, not just empty religious words. Show me where I am still walking in darkness. Give me courage to be honest about my sin and my struggles. Turn my heart toward Your light so that what I say and how I live will agree. He is light. That means everything about Him is pure, true, and holy. There is no mixture in Him, no hidden sin or shadow.

We often think what we see with our eyes is all there is. But even in nature there is more light than we can see. Our eyes see only a small part of the light spectrum. In the same way, we cannot see all of who God is with our eyes or even with our minds. Yet He is always present.

When the Bible says God is light, it also tells us that evil and darkness are what happens when people push God away. Darkness is not stronger than light. Darkness is only the absence of light. In the same way, evil is not stronger than God. It is what remains when people refuse His truth, His goodness, and His holiness.

This gives us confidence. The world can feel dark, confusing, and scary. Our own hearts can feel dark when we think of our sins, our fears, and our failures. But God is light. He is greater than all the darkness around us and inside us. When we turn to Him, we are not coming to a God who might change or fail. We come to a perfectly pure and faithful God who never walks in darkness and never brings darkness to us.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You that You are light and there is no darkness in You at all.
