His love is not up one day and down the next. In John 14 He said, “I will not leave you comfortless… I will come to you.” “Because I live, ye shall live also.” “I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” “We will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

These are not weak words. They are strong promises, sealed by His blood, His resurrection, and His faithfulness. The world guesses but the believer stands on what God has spoken.

So instead of “He loves me, He loves me not,” we confess a better truth. He loves me and stays. He loves me and lives. He loves me and keeps His word. Our assurance does not come from how steady our love is for Him, but from how steady His love is for us. That steady love then moves us to obey and to walk closely with Him.

Prayer:
Father, in Jesus name, thank You that Your love is not like a flower petal that comes and goes. Thank You that You have promised never to leave me nor forsake me. Forgive me for listening more to my changing emotions than to Your unchanging word. Teach me to stand on the promises of Jesus. Let the certainty of His love give me courage to obey, to trust, and to keep walking with You, even on hard days. In Jesus name, Amen.

He speaks about an “abode,” a home. If a person loves Him and keeps His words, Jesus says that He and the Father will come and make their home with that person. Earlier in this chapter, we know the Holy Spirit is also given, so the full presence of God dwells with the believer.

This is not just a feeling we have once in a while. This is an ongoing fellowship. God does not want to only be a guest in our lives on Sundays. He wants to live with us, walk with us, and share every part of our daily life.

Think of what it means that God makes His home with you. You are never without His presence. You never carry a burden alone. You never face a decision without His wisdom. His home in you also means that your life is not your own. A house where God lives should reflect His character. His presence cleans, shapes, and guides us over time.

This promise is not uncertain. It is not “maybe” and “maybe not.” Jesus does not play games with His people. If we love Him and keep His words, He and the Father come and stay. What greater comfort can there be than to know that God Himself has chosen to dwell with us.

Prayer:
Father, in Jesus name, thank You for the amazing promise that You make Your home with those who love and obey Jesus. I do not want a distant religion. I want real fellowship with You. Come and rule in every room of my heart. Let my thoughts, words, and choices show that my life is a place where You live. Help me to remember that I am never alone, because You have made Your abode with me. In Jesus name, Amen.

True love for Him is not just a feeling or a nice word. It shows up in obedience. “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me.”

We do not earn the love of God by obeying Him. God loved us first. He sent Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners. But when that love reaches our hearts, it changes us. A heart that truly loves Jesus will want to do what He says and love what and who He loves.

Obedience is not dry or cold. It is a response of love. When we keep His commandments, we are saying, “Jesus, I trust You more than my own ideas. I believe Your ways are better than my ways. I want to please You because I love You.”

Jesus also promises something beautiful here. He says that the one who loves and obeys Him will be loved by the Father, and that He will “manifest” or show Himself to that person. There is a clearer sense of His presence and His truth for the obedient believer. Some want to feel close to Jesus while ignoring His words. But fellowship with Jesus and obedience to Jesus always go together.

Prayer:
Father, in Jesus name, thank You for loving me first. Thank You for sending Jesus to save me. Help me to love Him not only with my lips but with my life. Show me where I am disobeying Your word, and give me grace to repent and obey. I want to know Jesus more deeply. Manifest Yourself to me as I walk in Your truth. In Jesus name, Amen.

He promised that even if the world thinks He is gone, His people will know He is alive and with them. Then He gave one of the strongest truths in the Bible. “Because I live, you shall live also.”

Our life is not just our breath and our heartbeat. Our real life is our connection with Jesus. His resurrection gives us spiritual life now and eternal life forever. Every hope we have as believers rises or falls with this one truth: Jesus is alive.

We do not live by the power of our courage, our goodness, or our strength. We live because He lives. Whatever we value most will claim our love and loyalty. One simple test of discipleship is what we do with our money and possessions. People pick comfort over survival. Many people choose riches, status, and ease over obedience to Christ. They will not give, will not serve, and will not go where God calls if it costs them their comfort or their savings.

True disciples know that everything they own belongs to Jesus. A wise king thinks carefully before going to war. In the same way, Jesus wants us to understand that following Him is not a quick emotional choice. It is a serious lifelong commitment.

Many people are moved in a moment of feeling and say they will follow Jesus. But they do not stop to think about what it will mean. They do not consider that discipleship will touch their money, their schedule, their relationships, and their plans. They expect blessing without burden and a crown without a cross.

Jesus does not want shallow promises. He wants honest disciples who understand that He asks for everything. The good news is that He also gives everything. He gives forgiveness, His Spirit, His presence, and eternal life. The price is high, but the reward is greater than we can imagine. Others lose jobs, friends, and family because they will not deny Jesus. Even where we are free, the call has not changed. To bear the cross means to die to self. It means that my plans, my pride, my comfort, and my desire to be accepted must go to die at the cross.

The cross shows us that following Christ is not a path of easy religion. They brought silver dishes, fine clothing, and other nice but useless things instead of what they really needed for survival. They tried to keep their old world with them, and it cost them their lives.

Many people try to follow Jesus in the same way. They want to keep all of their old loyalties, habits, and idols while also calling themselves disciples. But Jesus says that a person who does not give up everything he has cannot be His disciple. This does not always mean that Christ will remove every possession or relationship from your life. It does mean that nothing you own and no one you love can own you.

To forsake all means to hold every gift in an open hand before God. Your money, reputation, plans, and even the people you love most are placed under the Lordship of Jesus. He is free to rearrange, to give, to take, and to lead as He chooses. The Bible clearly calls us to love and care for them. Instead, Jesus is using a strong word to show how great our love for Him must be. Our love for Christ should be so deep and so strong that every other love looks small beside it.

In the parable of the great supper, people made excuses to stay away. One chose his land, one chose his work, and one chose his family. None of these things was evil, but they became more important than obeying the call of God. Jesus is showing us that people do not refuse Him simply because they are busy. They refuse Him because something else has first place in their hearts.

True discipleship means this: Christ is not just first on a list. When there is a choice between pleasing Jesus and pleasing others or even pleasing ourselves, the disciple chooses Jesus.

Prayer:
Father, in Jesus name, I ask You to search my heart. Show me any person, dream, or desire that I have placed above Your Son. I confess that Jesus must be above all in my life. I surrender my heart, and I say, Lord Jesus, You are above all in my life. Amen.

It is that God came to them in their ruined condition. Man ran, but God came. Man hid, but God called. Man sinned, but God moved toward him in mercy.

This is the heart of the Gospel. The Bible does not show us people climbing up to God. It shows us God coming down to us in Jesus Christ. Jesus is God walking into our broken world, calling ruined hearts out of fear, shame, and hiding.

In Christ, God answers every effect of sin.
Sin brings fear. Jesus brings peace with God.
Sin leaves us naked. Jesus clothes us with His righteousness.
Sin makes us hide. Jesus opens the way for us to come boldly to the throne of grace.

People do not need more labels, more explanations, or more human approval. They need the Lord Himself. Only He can truly deal with guilt, remove shame, calm fear, and restore fellowship with God. Descriptions will never deliver anyone.

If you are a believer, remember that this is how Jesus came to you. He did not wait for you to be strong or worthy. He came while you were still a sinner and called you by grace. Let this shape how you see everyone around you. Every ruined heart you meet is someone God is able to call and save.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that when I was running from You, You came looking for me. Thank You that You did not leave Adam and Eve in their fear, and You have not left me in mine. Fill me with a fresh sense of Your mercy. The very God we most need becomes the God we try to avoid. Adam and Eve did not run to God for mercy. They hid from Him among the trees.

This is still true today. People hide from God in many ways. Some hide behind busyness. Some hide behind pleasure. Some hide behind fake smiles and “I am fine.” Some hide behind religion that is outward only. Some hide behind the approval of others.

But hiding does not remove guilt. It does not cancel judgment. It only shows how deeply we know we are accountable to God. Every person has a conscience. It is a moral witness placed there by our Creator. We may try to silence it, but we cannot erase it.

The danger is this. If we keep resisting our conscience, it can become hardened, like skin burned by a hot iron. What once felt wrong no longer bothers us. That is what the Bible calls a “seared” conscience.

Yet even when we hide, God still comes near. He calls out “Where art thou?” not because He does not know, but because He invites us to come out of hiding and confess. Through Jesus, God offers full forgiveness and a new heart that no longer has to run from Him.

Prayer:
Lord, I see how often I try to hide from You, even in small ways. I hide my sins, my fears, and my failures instead of bringing them into Your light. Thank You that You still call to me, even when I run. Please soften my heart. Do not let my conscience become numb. Give me courage to step out of hiding, confess my sins, and receive Your mercy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

They felt exposed, helpless, and unable to fix what sin had done. Their answer was to cover themselves with fig leaves. This was the first human attempt at self-remedy.

Those fig leaves picture every way people try to cover their ruined hearts without turning to God. Some use good works. Some use religious activity. Some use excuses. Some hide behind success, anger, addictions, or even considering themselves the victim. These things may cover the outside, but not the heart.

Here is the deeper truth. Our problem is not only that our sin is exposed. Our problem is that we cannot cover it ourselves. No amount of effort, rule keeping, or self improvement can cleanse our guilt before a holy God.

God must provide the covering. Later in Genesis 3 God clothed Adam and Eve with garments of skin. This points forward to Jesus, the Lamb of God, whose blood and righteousness are the only true covering for our sin. We need righteousness that comes from God, not from our own hands.

Prayer:
Lord, I admit that my own “fig leaves” cannot cover my sin. My good works, excuses, and religious efforts are not enough to make me right with You. Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins and rising again so that I can be clothed in Your righteousness. Help me to stop trusting in myself and to rest only in what You have done for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

After they sinned, that same voice filled them with fear. Nothing about God had changed. His character was still holy, loving, and good. What changed was the human heart.

Sin did not give them freedom like Satan promised. Instead it brought fear, guilt, and inner trouble. This is what happens in every human heart after sin. We may not use words like “depravity” or “condemnation,” but we feel the effects. We feel anxiety that we cannot explain. We feel restless, empty, and afraid of facing God.

The Bible teaches that this fear is not just because life is hard. It is because sin has cut us off or severed us from the God of peace. Our conscience tells us something is wrong. So instead of running to God, we pull away from Him.

The good news is that God did not leave Adam and Eve in that fearful place. He came to them. He is still doing that today through Jesus Christ. Where sin causes fear, Jesus brings peace with God.

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that my sin has removed peace from my heart. Many times I have felt fear and inner trouble when I should have been resting in You. Thank You for sending Jesus for my ruined heart. They saw the feast, the palm branches, the donkey, and the crowds, but they did not fully see what it all meant. Only after Jesus died, rose again, and was glorified did they remember the Scriptures and understand how it all pointed to Him.

This tells us that true understanding comes when the Word of God and the Person of Christ come together in our hearts. Some people in the story knew the Word but missed the Lord. Others were excited about the Lord but did not know the Word well. The disciples were learning to bring both together.

We need both. The Word shows us who Jesus truly is, not who we imagine Him to be. The Holy Spirit uses Scripture to open our eyes to the glory of Christ. Then, as we see Him more clearly, our hearts respond with trust, worship, and obedience.

The question today is personal. Who do you see when you look at Jesus? A teacher, a miracle worker, a helper, or the Lamb of God who takes away your sin and the King who deserves your whole life?

If you have never trusted Christ, this is the day to turn from your sin and believe that He died and rose again for you. If you are already a believer, this is the time to realign your heart, to see Him again as He truly is, and to follow Him with fresh obedience and love.

Do not just see the moment and miss the Person. The feast, the branches, the donkey, the crowds, and even your own life circumstances are meant to point you to Him. See Him, trust Him, and respond to Him. Do not just see the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem years ago, but allow Him the triumphal entrance into your heart and life.

Sometimes, we do not know what or how to pray. These prayers are meant to help you, and not be a formula. Maybe you would like to pray today as an unbeliever or a believer, these are meant to help you.

Prayer for unbelievers:
God, I understand that I have sinned and gone my own way. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that He rose again. I turn from my sin and place my faith in Jesus alone to save me. Forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I give You my life and receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for believers:
Lord Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes to who You are. I confess that I often lose focus and let other things become more important than You. Help me to stay close to Your Word and close to You. Grow my understanding and deepen my love. Help me not just to know about You, but to walk with You daily in obedience and faith. Keep my eyes on You, the true King and Savior. They could quote the Law and the Prophets. They knew the promises about a coming Messiah. Yet when Jesus stood right in front of them, they wanted to stop Him, not worship Him.

This shows a serious warning. It is possible to know the Bible in your mind and still miss Jesus in your heart. You can know verses, doctrines, and stories, yet never bow before the One those verses point to.

The Pharisees used Scripture as something they controlled and used to gain power and status. Instead of letting the Word humble them and lead them to trust Christ, they used it to protect their position. Their problem was not lack of information. Their problem was lack of surrender.

We can fall into the same trap. We might enjoy learning, debating, and talking about theology, but not actually loving, trusting, and obeying Jesus. Scripture is given to us so we can know Him, not just so we can win arguments or feel spiritual.

Real faith is not only correct knowledge. It is a heart that bows to the Lord that the Bible reveals. The goal of reading the Word is a loving relationship with the living Christ. The Word must move from our minds to our hearts and then make its way out through our lives.
Ask yourself: Does my knowledge of the Bible lead me to deeper repentance, deeper love, and deeper obedience to Jesus? Or have I become content with information and missed transformation?

Prayer:
Father, keep me from being like the Pharisees who knew the Scriptures but rejected the Savior. Thank You for giving me Your Word. Help me not only to understand it with my mind, but to submit to it with my heart. Use the Bible to draw me closer to You, to change me, and to make me more like Your Son, Jesus. I surrender my pride and my desire to be right, and I ask You to be Lord over my life. In Jesus name, amen.

He chose a donkey, just as the prophet Zechariah had said about 500 years earlier. By riding that donkey, Jesus was clearly saying, “I am the promised King, the Messiah.”

This shows us two big truths.

First, God is faithful to His Word. Zechariah 9:9 promised a humble King on a donkey. Centuries passed, but God did not forget. In Jesus, that promise came true exactly how God had told it. When we see that, we learn that God never leaves a single promise unfinished. Every word about Christ’s first coming was fulfilled. When we see that His word can be trusted about how He would come to the earth, then we can trust that every word about His return and our final salvation will also be fulfilled.

Second, Jesus is a gentle and humble King. World conquerors ride proud and powerful animals and bring war. Jesus rides a lowly animal and brings peace with God through His blood. He does not come to crush sinners who come to Him. He comes to carry their sins to the cross and give them peace with God.

The donkey reminds us that God keeps His promises and that His Son is a different kind of King. He is mighty enough to save, but humble enough to suffer. He came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.

When your faith feels weak, remember the donkey. God does not forget what He has spoken. He did not forget Zechariah. He will not forget you if you belong to Christ.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for coming as the humble King on a donkey, just as God promised. Thank You that every prophecy about You shows that the Father always keeps His Word. Help me to trust that You are both powerful and gentle, both King and Savior. When I doubt, remind me of Your faithfulness and that You will finish what You have started in me. In Jesus name, amen.

They were waving palm branches, which is a national symbol that said, “Give us victory now.”

Their expectation was small compared to what Jesus came to do. They wanted freedom from Rome but Jesus came to bring freedom from sin, death, and the wrath of God. They wanted a change in government. Jesus came to change hearts.

This teaches us something important about our own hearts. We can come to Jesus wanting Him mainly to fix our problems, heal our hurts, restore our finances, or improve our circumstances. He does care about our needs, but His main mission is deeper. He came to save us from our guilt, cleanse us from our sin, and bring us back to God.

If we only expect Jesus to give us a better life on earth, we will miss the greater gift of eternal life with Him. The crowd wanted a crown without a cross. But Jesus knew the only way to truly save was to go to the cross first!

Ask yourself: What do I mainly want Jesus to do for me? That feast was an appointment set by God. On this day, Jesus walks into that appointment as the true Passover Lamb.

In Exodus, each family chose a lamb, cared for it, and then killed it so that its blood would cover them from judgment. That lamb pointed to Jesus. He is God’s Lamb, chosen before the world began, coming at the exact time God planned.

This shows us something very important about God. He does not guess about the future. He does not react to what people do. He plans, promises, and then fulfills His Word. Just as Passover was not an accident, the cross was not an accident. Your salvation is not an accident either.

When you see Jesus entering Jerusalem at Passover, you are seeing God keep His prophetic promise to save sinners. Prophecy is not like a weather forecast that might change. It is God’s certain plan being carried out. Numbers 23:19 says God cannot lie. If He says He will save, then He will save completely through His Son.

Today, remember: your life is not random. The same God who set that feast and sent His Son at the right moment knows you, sees you, and invites you to trust His plan in Christ.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that Your coming to Jerusalem was not an accident, but a loving plan from God. Thank You for being the true Passover Lamb who came to die for my sins. Help me to trust that Your plans are sure and that Your promises never fail. I give You my fears about the future and rest in Your perfect timing. In Jesus name, amen.

Not that they were successful. Not that they were popular. But that in the middle of a dark world, they walked with God and pleased Him.

Pleasing God does not mean living a perfect life. Only Jesus lived a perfect life. But it does mean living a life of faith that trusts, obeys, and depends on God. Faith pleases God because it gives Him the honor He deserves. Faith says, “God, You are true. Your word is right. Your promises are sure. I will build my life on You.”

Enoch’s world was very sinful. Violence, corruption, and rebellion filled the earth. In many ways, our world today is similar. There is confusion about truth. There is open sin and pride. There is rejection of God’s ways. Yet God can still raise up men and women like Enoch who walk with Him in the middle of darkness.

The question is not only “How bad is the world?” The question is “What is my testimony in this world?” Am I walking with God or drifting with the culture? Am I pleasing God or just trying to fit in? Am I bold for truth or silent out of fear?

You may not be known by the world. Your name may never be remembered in history books. But what matters most is that your life here on earth was a life of faith that pleased God.

Prayer
Father, in Jesus name, I want my life to be a testimony that pleases You. Forgive my apathy, my fear, and my silence. Forgive me for the times I have cared more about what people think than what You think. Fill my heart with faith to walk with You, to believe Your word, and to stand for truth in a dark world. Use my life, no matter how small it seems, to shine for You. May it be said of me, by Your grace, that I walked with God and pleased You. In Jesus name, Amen.

He gives Himself to those who earnestly desire Him.

The greatest reward God gives is Himself. He gives us His Son for our salvation. He gives us His Spirit for our comfort and strength. He gives us His presence to walk with us. Every other blessing flows from this: God gives Himself to the one who seeks Him.

Enoch did not just seek God once. He walked with God throughout his life. His faith was steady and sincere. God saw that faith and was pleased. Enoch did not seek God in vain. God rewarded his faith with close fellowship and finally with translating him to Himself without seeing death.

Many people want only a “fire insurance” faith. They want to escape hell but do not want a relationship with God. They want Jesus as Savior but not as Lord. They want heaven later but not holiness now. That is not diligent seeking.

Diligently seeking God means we desire Him, not just His gifts. We want to know Him, not just escape judgment. Faith is also for every step after that. The Christian life is a journey of following God in faith. Many times God does not show us the whole path. He shows us only the next step. In those moments, faith must lead and feelings must follow.

The Bible gives us many examples of following faith. Abraham obeyed God and went out, not knowing where he was going. Moses left the treasures of Egypt and chose to suffer with the people of God. The disciples left their work and their old lives to follow Jesus.
They did not understand everything. They did not see every detail. But they trusted the One who called them. That is what following faith does. It believes that God is wise, good, and faithful even when the way seems unclear.

Faith that follows will always lead to obedience. It is not enough to say “I trust God” while ignoring what He says. Real faith shows itself in real obedience. It says “Yes, Lord” with both the heart and the life. When we trust God’s character, we can obey God’s commands, even when they are costly.

Prayer
Father, in Jesus name, help me to have a faith that follows You even when I do not see the whole picture. When I am unsure or afraid, remind me that You are wise, loving, and in control. Give me courage to obey Your word, to surrender my own plans, and to trust that Your way is best. Let my faith be seen in my obedience and my daily choices. In Jesus name, Amen.

The world around him was growing more corrupt, more violent, and more ungodly. Yet in the middle of all this sin, Enoch had a different story. The Bible says he walked with God and that his life pleased God.

Walking with God means more than believing in Him from a distance. It is living near to Him. It is talking with Him in prayer, listening to Him in His word, and obeying Him in daily life. It is choosing God’s way when the world goes another way.

Enoch shows us that faith is not just how we start with God. Faith is how we continue with God day after day. True faith follows. It does not only say “I believe” with the mouth. It shows “I believe” with the life. Faith leads our feet, shapes our choices, and guides our steps.

The darker the world becomes, the brighter a faithful walk with God will shine. Your workplace, school, community, and even family may not honor God. But like Enoch, you can walk with God in the middle of it. It is the very beginning and foundation of it. The Bible says that without faith we cannot please God at all. That means we cannot know Him, walk with Him, or be right with Him apart from faith.

Faith is more than believing that God exists. Even the devils believe that God exists. Biblical faith means we trust who God is and what He has said. We take Him at His word. We depend on His character. We rely on His promises through the Spirit. We rest in His Son.

The Bible teaches that we are not saved by our own goodness or our own efforts. Our works cannot make us righteous. Our church habits cannot make us righteous. Our feelings cannot make us righteous. Only God can make a sinner righteous and He does this through faith in Jesus Christ.

Faith is like an empty hand reaching out to receive a gift. The hand does not earn the gift. It simply receives it. In the same way, faith does not earn salvation. Faith receives salvation from Christ. God is pleased when we stop trusting in ourselves and start trusting fully in His Son.

Prayer
Father, in Jesus name, I confess that I cannot please You by my own works or goodness. I am a sinner who needs Your mercy. Thank You for sending Jesus to die for my sins and rise again. Help me to put my full faith in Christ alone for my salvation.
