Sunday's

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Our mission for the Children’s Ministry is to study God’s word and lead the children from age four to ten (4-10) to Christ by obeying God. One of the greatest purposes of our ministry is to be an example of Christ to the children. When we are committed to Christ and then to them in ministry, we hope they will see Jesus through us. The material we are using is new, exciting, and fun.  Our children are enjoying and understanding it. We learn Bible verses and songs and how to use the bible, play games, and have fun. We have discussions about the lessons, and the children have a chance to share their thoughts. We have a worship time with music and some dancing. We have a snack and drinks for our children at times.  Our main desire is to keep the truths of God’s Word real while having fun doing it.

Wednesday's

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
Mark 10:13-15

Children are blessings!  We have a responsibility to these children. We are to help them grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.  We are to teach them about Jesus and introduce them to Jesus (for the children who are not taken to church often).  We are to prepare them to accept Jesus! We are to lead them to Jesus! For the children who know Jesus as their personal savior, we are to help them grow as young Christians on their level.  Jesus commissioned us to teach the Gospel. We must start on a young level to prepare children to accept Christ and for the future of the church, not just our church, but Christ's church!

REQUIRED:
  • Anyone who works with minors is required to have a background check run by North Highland. A clean background check must be on file before working with children in any capacity.
  • Regular background checks will be completed as required by the church

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Children are a blessing and gift from God. We are to teach them how important they are (Psalm 127:3)
  • Love the children (1 Corinthians 13:13)
  • Teach these children as if they were your own. They are our future as well as Christ’s  (1 Peter 2: 2-3)
  • Let the children come to Jesus. Lead them to Jesus  (Mark 10: 13-16)
  • Try to answer all their questions about the Bible. If you don’t know the answer, tell them you will try your best to find out. If it’s important to them, make it important to you  (Matt. 18:10)
  • Make sure to give the children the best possible Christ-like foundation/platform. They’re influenced so much by the world that this is their “Jesus Refuge” (Proverbs 22:6)
  • Be prepared with at least a forty-minute lesson on Wednesday nights. The lesson will be provided
  • Classes are split into grade levels (1st-3rd as beginners) and (4th-5th as Primary) teach at their appropriate level.  Lessons will be provided
  • Have prayer at the beginning and end of class. Ask the children for the prayer request
  • Never send a child to the restroom alone or out of the room. Use the buddy system like Noah (two by two)
  • Discipline as needed. You can take them to their parents if needed. (Never happened)
  • Most importantly, have FUN! This is the most rewarding thing you can do in church. Sometimes, you learn right along with the kids. You may even lead a kid to Jesus, and that is what it is all about!!
