"On The Eve"
As a kid, Christmas time was exciting. Going to bed and thinking hopeful thoughts of what I could wake up to the next morning was sometimes overwhelming. I’m not going to lie; sometimes, I didn't sleep at all.
As I’ve grown older, those “on the eve” moments are still there; they’ve just changed. Like the night before waking up for an early fishing trip, a vacation, the day before getting married, or the days before our children were born, anticipation, hope, and even the fear of things unknown would overwhelm me.
Sometimes, in worship services, when reading my Bible, or during prayer time, I get that feeling of anticipation, hope, and even excited fear of waking up the next morning to the face of my Lord.
Think about it. As we are all awaiting Christmas Day, it could actually be the day that Christ calls the church away. We could wake tomorrow in the presence of our Almighty God. What a day it will be!!!
Church family, I hope you are leaning in and living every day like we are “on the eve” of something. Maybe a breakthrough in your life. Perhaps a lost soul you’ve been praying for. Maybe a great revival. Or possibly it’s the day we step into forever with Him. Whatever you do, don’t lose that “on the eve” attitude. It’s exciting. It makes it hard to sleep sometimes, oh, but it’s worth it.
I love you, church,
Pastor Steve

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
