Finding Rest in God's Presence

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Psalms 46
TO THE CHIEF MUSICIAN FOR THE SONS OF KORAH, A SONG UPON ALAMOTH.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled,
though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved:
God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved:
he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth;
he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder;
he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Thoughts:
Jesus' invitation to "Come unto me" is a call to lay down our burdens and find true rest. In a world that constantly demands our attention and energy, it's easy to become overwhelmed and exhausted. But Christ offers us a different way, a way of peace and restoration.

Today, reflect on the areas of your life where you feel burdened or heavy-laden. What would it look like to bring these to Jesus? Remember that God is our "refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). As you read Psalm 46, meditate on the image of being still and knowing that He is God. In this stillness, we find not just physical rest, but a deep peace that comes from being in God's presence.

Prayer:
Take a few minutes today to sit in silence, focusing on God's presence. In your prayer, visualize yourself laying your burdens at His feet and receiving the rest He has offered.
