God is the Source of All Things
Colossians 1:15-17
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
1 Corinthians 8:4-6
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
Today’s readings remind us that God is the source of everything. Paul tells us that He created everything and for His own glory. This should change how we see life. Think about the areas where you might be treating God like a resource instead of the source of your being. How would your life change if you really believed that everything comes from God?
Prayer and Action:
Take some time to write down the things you’re grateful for, and remember that God is the one who gave each blessing. This exercise can help you feel more dependent on and devoted to Him.
