Sealed with the Spirit

Ephesians 1:11-14
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Thoughts:
The assurance of our salvation is a profound theme in today's reading. We learn that believers are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit" (v.13). This seal is like God's personal stamp of ownership and protection on our lives. How does this truth comfort you in times of doubt or difficulty? The Spirit is also described as the "guarantee of our inheritance" (v.14). Spend some time imagining what that full inheritance might be. How does the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life right now give you a foretaste of that future glory?

Prayer:
Today, be aware to the Spirit's presence and guidance in your life. Ask the Lord to allow you to see His presence clearer today.
