Forgiven and Free
Colossians 1:13-14
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Thoughts:
Yesterday, we thought of our redemption in Christ; today, we celebrate the forgiveness that comes with it. In Christ, we have "the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” This forgiveness is not grudging or limited. It's abundant, and flows from the riches of God's grace.
Paul reminds us in Romans that there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Imagine the weight lifted off your shoulders! The slate is wiped clean, and you stand before God as if you had never sinned.
Prayer:
Take time today to write down sins or mistakes that still haunt you. Then, prayerfully cross each one out, declaring them forgiven in Christ. If you struggle to forgive yourself, remember that God's forgiveness is greater than your feelings. Choose to live in the freedom of forgiveness today.
