Working Together
Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Thoughts:
What a tremendous blessing it is to know that the operation of the Son and the Spirit of God is working within the lives of a believer.
I assume that, like me, you believe you can do all things. We even use the scripture out of Philippians to present our case in this matter. If I had a quarter for every time I’ve used that scripture outside of the context it is written, I’d be a rich man today. Yes, the scripture says we can do all things, but never forget that it says “through Him… through Christ that strengthens me.” It is not an “American Dream” scripture that teaches you can do whatever you want as long as you “put your Christ to it.” It teaches us that whatever He is calling you into, He will strengthen and equip you to do.
The truth today is that we are unable to do some things (boy, that hurt to type). At times, we are unable to do what we call the simplest of things… like pray as we should.
“The Son and Spirit intercede on our behalf in spite of our insufficiency. They both communicate to the Father our praise, our worship, and our needs.” - Andrew Abney
What a privilege to have such a glorious team working together for us! Which makes the next verse in that section of Romans so wonderful.
Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Prayer:
In greatfulness of heart, lavish the Trinity today for their combined work in your life. Please take a moment to simplify your gratitude for each of them by speaking directly to them. Tell each how thankful you are for their specific role in your life.
