From Self-Revelation to Divine Revelation

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Thoughts:
Our human tendency is to shape our understanding of God based on our own ideas and preferences. This is devilish and wrong. True wisdom comes from seeking God's revelation rather than relying on our own understanding. Many times, we attempt to fit Jesus into our lives instead of fitting our lives into Jesus. Think about areas where you might be trying to fit Jesus into your life instead of fitting your life into Jesus' plan. Confess those things and consider how you can surrender your thoughts and ideas... and open yourself to God's greater thoughts and ways?

Prayer:
Today, practice intentional listening in your prayer time. Instead of doing all the talking, create an opportunity in your quietness for God to speak to you through His Word and His Spirit.
