Pursuing Spiritual Growth
2 Peter 3:18
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Philippians 3:12-14
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Thoughts:
Spiritual growth requires intentional effort and dedication. Just as pursuing higher education demands time and commitment, growing in our knowledge and love for God requires consistent investment. Evaluate your current spiritual practices or the exercising of your faith. Are you giving enough time and energy to your relationship with God? Consider starting or implementing new spiritual disciplines. Perhaps giving more time to prayer, attending regular Bible study, or joining a small group for accountability. Remember, the goal isn't just accumulating knowledge, but pressing on toward deeper intimacy or relationship with Christ. What one step can you take today to pursue spiritual growth more earnestly?
Prayer:
As you take a spiritual inventory of your life, ask the Lord to search your heart and life. Ask Him to reveal unto you the areas of weakness that need improvement. Remember as you pray, you are not working for salvation or for a better standing with the Lord. You are pursuing Him because of His pursuit toward you.
