Sealed and Secure
Ephesians 1:13-14
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
Thoughts:
The picture of being "sealed" with the Holy Spirit is a powerful one. In ancient times, a seal represented security, authenticity, and ownership. As believers, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, marking us as God's authentic, secure possession. This seal is our guarantee of salvation and eternal inheritance. Reflect on times when you've felt insecure in your faith or doubted in your relationship with God. How does the truth of being sealed by the Spirit address those insecurities? Consider how this assurance might empower you to live more boldly or confidently for Christ, knowing that your eternal security rests not on your performance, but on God's faithfulness. Today, and from now on, rest in the comfort of your secure position in Christ.
Prayer:
Thank You! Thank the Lord for thinking of everything. He has made sure that we lack in no area, but are fully saved in Him. Give Him thanks for His completed work of salvation in your life.
