Shining the Light on Our Works
John 3:20-21
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Thoughts:
When we were dead in our sins we never wanted those things to be revealed. We despised and hated the light. The law was viewed an enemy to us. It was like a bright light shining on a criminal in the night.
But after our salvation through God's grace, we now feel a draw unto the light. It seems like we are now moths that are driven to a light or flame. The reason? That our deeds would be revealed unto others. Not for our own glory thought, but for the glory of our God who saved us. When people see the light within us, we should point unto the Lord who has forgiven, saved, and redeemed us through His gift of grace.
Do you shine brightly in this world of darkness? If so, do we glorify God who has done this marvelous work in us?
Prayer:
Reveal to the Lord the areas where you may steal away from His glory and take credit for your brightly shining works. Confess your dependence upon Him and your joy in sharing the light with others.
