The Balance of Service and Worship

Luke 10:38-42
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Thoughts:
Today we reflect on the story of Martha and Mary, two sisters who approached Jesus' presence differently. Martha busied herself with preparations, while Mary sat at Jesus' feet. This passage teaches us about the delicate balance between serving God and spending time in His presence.

Consider your own life. Are you more like Martha, always busy doing things for God, or Mary, taking time to sit at His feet? Both service and worship are important, but Jesus reminds us that listening to Him is the "better part." Today, challenge yourself to find moments of stillness in God's presence. Let His words fill you before you rush to serve. Remember, our work for Christ should flow from our worship of Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, help me find the right balance between serving You and spending time with You. May all my actions flow from a heart that is first and foremost devoted to You.
