Lifting Our Eyes to the True Source
Psalms 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
Thought:
The hills surrounding Jerusalem might have been the sites of idol worship or places of high places under siege during Hezekiah's time. The psalmist poses a question to reflect on, causing us to consider where our true help comes from amidst life's challenges. Recognizing that our help comes from the Lord, who has both the authority and power to create heaven and earth, shifts our reliance away from human sources and towards His divine support. This acknowledgment invites us to rise above superficial solutions and embrace the eternal and steadfast help offered by God.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to focus my eyes on You rather than the things around me. Give me the discernment to recognize Your hand at work in my life, and the faith to trust in Your provision and protection. Amen.
