Strength for the Inner Man
Ephesians 3:16
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Isaiah 40:28-31
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,
that the everlasting God, the LORD,
the Creator of the ends of the earth,
fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.
Thoughts:
Paul's prayer targets what we need most: spiritual strength. While we often pray for external circumstances to change, Paul prayed for internal transformation through the Holy Spirit. Much of our stress comes from trying to manage life in our own power, jumping into deep water and then calling for rescue. True strength comes when God's Spirit strengthens our inner being according to the riches of His glory. This is not superficial positivity but deep, sustaining power that enables you to endure when everything around you crumbles. The Holy Spirit strengthens you not just to survive but to thrive in your faith, regardless of external pressures.
Prayer:
Identify one area where you feel spiritually weak and specifically ask God to strengthen your inner man through His Spirit in that area.
