Facing Opposition
John 12:9-11
9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; 11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
Thoughts:
The religious leaders' plot against Lazarus reminds us that following Jesus can sometimes lead to opposition. Lazarus didn't do anything wrong. His very existence as a living testimony to Jesus' power was enough to make him a target.
As followers of Christ, we may face opposition or persecution for our faith. This might come in the form of ridicule, discrimination, or even threats to our lives. But, we're called to stand firm in our faith, knowing that our ultimate loyalty and faithfulness is to Christ.
Today, pray for Christians around the world, and in our nation facing persecution. If you're experiencing opposition for your faith, remember that you're not alone. Take courage from Jesus' words: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
Prayer:
Father, give strength to those facing persecution for Your name. Help me to stand firm in my faith, even in the face of opposition. May my life always point others to You.
