The Problem of Looking at Temporary Solutions

Genesis 13:10
And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere... like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

Thought:
Lot's choice to settle near Sodom illustrates a crucial lesson on the problems of relying solely on what is immediately visible or appealing. This inclination can lead us to temptation or sinful conditions, drawing us away from God's best for our lives. By focusing on temporary prosperity, Lot unknowingly placed his family in moral danger. As believers, we face similar temptations when making choices based on temporary benefits rather than seeking God's wisdom for guidance. Therefore, it's essential to cultivate a perspective that seeks God and His wisdom over instant gratification.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, guide me to look beyond the surface in my decisions. Help me base my choices on Your wisdom and not merely on what seems appealing at the moment. Keep me grounded in Your truth. Amen.
