Enduring Through Ministry
Galatians 6:9
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
James 5:7-11
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. 10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Thoughts:
Ministry is work. Not the easy stroll through a rose garden many imagine, but labor requiring longsuffering, forbearance, and diligent effort. Longsuffering means persevering when adversity presses in. Forbearance means holding someone upright when they lean on you for stability. Endeavoring means exerting yourself with the same diligence you would give to studying God's Word.
The more you deal with people, the greater the diversity of challenges you will face. But remember: you are not alone in this labor. The same Spirit who strengthened Paul in chains strengthens you in your calling. Do not grow weary in doing good. The harvest is coming, and your faithful endurance is cultivating eternal fruit.
Prayer:
Ask God for the strength to endure and continue to walk in the ministry He has invited you to.
