Much Fruit and Lasting Joy

John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Thought:
Jesus does not call us to a life of minimal fruit but to “much” fruit. The same disciples who were weak, fearful, doubting, and flawed; Peter, Thomas, James, John, Matthew, and the rest. were told that they would go and bear fruit that remains. Their limitations or failures did not define their future; their connection to Christ did.

You may feel God could never use you in a significant way. But that unbelief says more about what you think of God than what you think of yourself. In Christ, your calling is not to be impressive but to be abiding. He supplies the life, the power, the grace, and the fruit.

And what is the greatest evidence of this abiding? Love. Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us. When His love, joy, patience, and kindness flow through you, the Father is glorified, and you show yourself to be a true disciple.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You have chosen and appointed me to bear much fruit. I lay down my excuses, doubts, and fears. I ask You to fill my life with the fruit of Your Spirit; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Let my life bring glory to the Father. Teach me to love others as You have loved me. Keep me abiding in You, today and every day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
