Interceding for Others and Drawing Near to God

Genesis 18:22-23
22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. 23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Thought:
Abraham’s conversation with God about Sodom really shows how important and powerful intercessory prayer can be. He was so proactive in praying for Lot’s safety, which shows he cared about both justice and mercy, just like God. This encourages us to stand in the gap for others, lifting their needs before God with a caring heart. The act of drawing near to God in prayer highlights the intimacy and impact of our petitions, reminding us that God listens and values our involvement in His redemptive work. Intercessory prayer is a way to show love and faith, and it’s about asking God to do what’s right on earth.

Prayer:
Loving Father, thank You for the privilege of bringing others before You in prayer. Teach me to intercede passionately and sincerely for those I care about, trusting in Your mercy and justice. Amen.
