Walking In The Light

1 John 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.

Thought:
Fellowship means sharing life together. God invites us to share life with Him. This is more than going to church, more than trying to be good, and more than saying we believe in God. It is a real relationship where God is close and we learn to live with Him and for Him.

John teaches that we cannot truly walk with God and still choose to live in darkness. Darkness means hiding sin, loving sin, and refusing God’s truth. It means saying with our mouth that we belong to God while our life goes the other way. This is a lie.

This does not mean Christians never sin. John says that believers still need to confess their sins and be forgiven. The issue is direction and desire. When God brings us into fellowship with Himself, He also changes our hearts. We begin to desire His light. We are no longer comfortable remaining in darkness. His presence starts to change what we love, how we think, and how we live.

To walk in the light is to be honest with God. It is to stop pretending and stop hiding. It means to bring our thoughts, choices, and desires out into His presence and say, Lord, here is my real heart. Change what needs to be changed. It is a daily choice to move toward Him and away from sin.

Prayer:
Father God, I want real fellowship with You, not just empty religious words. Show me where I am still walking in darkness. Give me courage to be honest about my sin and my struggles. Turn my heart toward Your light so that what I say and how I live will agree. Thank You that You do not reject those who come into the light. In Jesus name, amen.
