A Call to Return
Genesis 35:1
And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
Thoughts:
Reflect on the significant moments in life when God calls us back to our origins, to the places where we first encountered His presence and felt His divine touch. Just as Jacob’s journey took him far from the beginning of his faith, leading him into periods of silence and anxiety, our own spiritual paths can sometimes lead us astray from the initial closeness we felt with God. However, God’s call to Jacob was a profound invitation to repentance and renewal, urging him to return to the altar where he first experienced God’s divine encounter. This serves as a powerful reminder that, regardless of how far we may drift from our spiritual roots or how deep we may fall into doubt and fear, God consistently calls us back to a place of intimacy and connection with Him. It is an invitation to rediscover the foundational aspects of our faith and to rekindle the relationship with God that may have been neglected or forgotten.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, draw me back to the moments where I first felt Your presence. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and guide my steps to return to the altar, where I can meet with You and experience renewal. In Jesus' name, Amen.
