Trusting God With the Future
Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Thought:
In David’s time, chariots and horses were the cutting-edge symbols of power and security. They were impressive, loud, and terrifying on the battlefield. But they were also limited, fragile, and temporary.
Everyone trusts something for the future:
But the believer is called to a different confidence: “We will remember the name of the LORD our God.” Trust always looks forward. It brings the God of the past and present into tomorrow. It surrenders control and says, “The God who has carried me this far will carry me still.”
Before we can remember God’s name, we must know His name. Trust for tomorrow is rooted in a living relationship today. Peace about the unknown is born from walking with the Known One.
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the times I have trusted in my own “chariots and horses," my strength, plans, or resources. Teach me to remember and rest in Your name alone. As I face an uncertain future, settle my heart in the certainty of who You are. Let my confidence be in Your unchanging character and unfailing promises. I entrust my tomorrow into Your hands, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Everyone trusts something for the future:
- Some trust in resources and savings.
- Some trust in relationships, status, or abilities.
- Some trust in systems, governments, or strategies.
But the believer is called to a different confidence: “We will remember the name of the LORD our God.” Trust always looks forward. It brings the God of the past and present into tomorrow. It surrenders control and says, “The God who has carried me this far will carry me still.”
