God's Patience and Mercy

2 Peter 3:8-9
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The vineyard keeper’s plea for the fig tree reminds us of God’s patience and mercy towards us. Have you ever felt like God gave you ‘one more year’ – another chance to grow and bear fruit? His patience isn’t because He doesn’t care, but because He wants everyone to turn away from sin. Take some time to think about God’s longsuffering nature in your own life. How have you responded to His patience?

Prayer and Action:
Take some time today to express gratitude to God for His kindness and ask for the courage to seize the chances He’s given you to grow in your faith and serve others.
