The Deceptive Nature of Sin

James 1:13-15
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Thoughts:
Sin often begins as a small temptation but can lead us far from God if we're not vigilant. The story of Gomer illustrates how sin can make us forget our true identity and the source of our blessings. Examine your life for areas where you might be drifting away from God. What "lovers" or distractions are competing for your attention?

Prayer:
Ask God to reveal any blind spots and to strengthen your resolve to resist temptation. Remember, no matter how far sin may take you, God's love can reach you and bring you back.
