The Image We Bear

Romans 8:28-29
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

James 3:8-10
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Thoughts:
We were created in God's image, but sin has marred that reflection. God's redemptive plan through Christ aims to restore and conform us daily into the image of His Son. This is not instant but a lifelong process of sanctification. While we bear God's creational image, our lives must increasingly reflect His moral character. Consider the tongue James describes; capable of blessing God and cursing others made in His likeness. This contradiction reveals our need for transformation.

Prayer:
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where your life contradicts the image of Christ. Confess where you've misrepresented Him, and commit to one specific way you'll reflect His character more clearly to those around you.
