Filled with the Spirit

Ephesians 5:18-21
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Galatians 5:22-25
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Thoughts:
Being filled with the Spirit isn't about emotional experiences or supernatural manifestations alone, it's about daily surrender that produces visible fruit. Paul contrasts drunkenness with Spirit-fullness because both involve being controlled by something outside yourself. Alcohol leads to reckless living that negates salvation's evidence; the Spirit leads to worship, gratitude, and mutual submission. A Spirit-filled person sings God's truth privately and publicly, gives thanks in all circumstances, and submits to others in reverence to Christ. This isn't perfection; it's direction. The measurement of your faith isn't how loudly you worship or how much Bible knowledge you possess, it's whether your life shows evidence of transformation. Don't live your entire life claiming salvation only to hear, "I never knew you."

Prayer:
Pray and ask the Lord if your daily life show evidence that you're filled with God's Spirit, or are you running on empty. Then ask Him to fill you with all the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
