Because He Lives, I Live
John 14:19
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Thought:
Jesus told His disciples that soon the world would no longer see Him. He was going to the cross, then to the grave, and then He would rise again and return to the Father. To most people, it would look like Jesus was gone. But He said something very special to His followers. “But you see Me.”
He was not talking about seeing Him with physical eyes. He was talking about knowing Him by faith. He promised that even if the world thinks He is gone, His people will know He is alive and with them. Then He gave one of the strongest truths in the Bible. “Because I live, you shall live also.”
Our life is not just our breath and our heartbeat. Our real life is our connection with Jesus. His resurrection gives us spiritual life now and eternal life forever. Every hope we have as believers rises or falls with this one truth: Jesus is alive.
We do not live by the power of our courage, our goodness, or our strength. We live because He lives. We stand because He holds us. We keep going because His risen life is at work in us by the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Father, in Jesus name, thank You that Jesus is alive. Thank You that my life is joined to His life. When I feel weak, remind me that my hope does not rest in myself, but in the risen Christ. Help me to live each day as one who belongs to a living Savior, not a distant memory. Fill me with the life of Jesus by Your Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
