Living in Light of Christ's Return

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

The Christian hope isn’t just about a better life now, but about the incredible future that awaits us when Christ comes back. This hope should change how we live in the present. Knowing that we’ll all be together with Christ should give us the courage to live holy and expectant lives now. It should also make us feel better when we’re sad or apart. Today, take some time to think about the reality of Christ’s return. How does this future hope affect your choices and priorities right now?

Prayer:
Ask God to help you live each day in light of eternity, eagerly awaiting the day when we will be gathered together with Him.
