Change Me Lord
Hebrews 6:10-12
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Thoughts:
Often I see people act and hear people speak of worship and gathering together with the church family as something that they “have” to do. You’ve heard it before… “Oh, it’s Sunday tomorrow. You guys have to go to church.” Or you may have experienced the old, “Yep, it’s Wednesday, I guess you can’t go, you have to go to youth group.”
In the scripture today, it talks about people whose “have to” changed into “want to.” It shares with us the stories of people who set an example of faithful worship and gathering together with other members of the Body of Christ. Laboring not FOR faith, but those who labor, work or exercise IN faith.
These have set an example for us to follow. Not being slothful/lazy or living for themselves but realizing that the increasing of their faith is important. Not “having to” read their Bible, or bend their knees in prayer. Not “having to” sing worshipfully with other believers and growing alongside them. Not “having to” abstain from sinfulness and pleasures of the flesh and world. No, not “having to” but “getting to!”
When our “have to” changes to “get to,” then we enjoy the wonderful freedom and deliverance of His Grace and we will worship Him completely.
Prayer:
Ask the Lord today if you have viewed the things of faith and the worshipping together with others as a “have to” and not as a “get to.” Ask Him for forgiveness and find the real heart of worship.
