The Impossible Made Possible
Luke 18:27
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Thought
When the people asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus answered by pointing away from human ability and toward divine power. Salvation is not difficult for man. It is impossible for man. No amount of morality, religion, effort, wealth, or sincerity can rescue a soul from sin. But what is impossible with men is possible with God.
This truth humbles us and gives us hope. It humbles us because we cannot boast in ourselves. It gives us hope because no sinner is beyond the reach of God. Salvation is of the LORD. If He saved Abraham by faith, rescued Jonah by mercy, and spared Nineveh through repentance, then He is able to save today. Live today with confidence in God’s saving power, and do not decide that anyone is too far gone for His mercy.
Prayer
Father, thank You that salvation does not depend on my strength, goodness, or wisdom. Thank You that what is impossible with man is possible with You. Help me to trust Your power to save and to share the Gospel with hope. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
