The LORD Is...

Psalm 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want.

Thoughts:
Before David calls God his Shepherd, he calls Him LORD. This name speaks of the eternal, self existent God who revealed Himself to Moses as “I AM THAT I AM.” God is not dependent on anyone or anything. His faithfulness, power, and wisdom do not change with circumstances. This means that our confidence in God does not rest on what we see at the moment but on who He has always been and always will be. God’s character is the anchor for our faith.

When suffering, confusion, or disappointment enter our lives, we are tempted to judge God based on what we feel in that single moment. David invites us instead to remember who God is before we question what God is doing. The more clearly we see the character of God, the more securely we can trust His plan, even when we cannot trace His hand. Today, remind your heart that the same LORD who saved, provided, and guided in the past is the LORD who is with you right now. He has not changed, even if everything around you has.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing the Father as the eternal and unchanging “I AM.” Help me to trust who You are more than what I see. When I am tempted to fear or doubt, remind me of Your character, Your faithfulness, and Your love shown at the cross. Let my confidence rest not in my understanding of my circumstances but in the truth of who You are. Strengthen my faith to lean on Your unchanging nature in every season of life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
