Ordering My Priorities Before the End
1 Peter 4:7
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Thought:
Peter’s words press a serious question into our lives. If the end of all things is at hand, are my priorities in the right order? A sober believer understands that time, energy, and opportunities are limited. We cannot do everything, and we are not meant to. When we forget that the end is near, we fill our lives with things that do not matter for eternity while neglecting what matters most. We may be very busy but not truly faithful. We may work hard but leave little room for what draws us closer to Christ.
Being watchful in prayer is one of the main ways our priorities are corrected. When we consistently bring our schedules, plans, and desires before God, He shows us what to lay down and what to take up. Ask yourself, if Jesus came today, would I be ashamed of how I have spent my time, or would I be grateful for how He led me to use it? Are there habits you need to stop, disciplines you need to start, or people you need to invest in more intentionally? Let the truth that the end is at hand move you from good intentions to concrete obedience.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me that the end of all things is at hand. I offer my time, my plans, and my priorities to You. Show me what needs to change so that my life reflects what truly matters. Teach me to be sober and to watch in prayer. Help me to use the time that remains for Your glory and not my own. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
